I did not come up with this way to solve the cube, I am just copying it for easy access if I remember that this page exists.
Notation: Up, Down, Front, Back, Left, Right. Superscript -1 = counterclockwise.

snaps into place correctly.

Only look at the top face colours for now; ignore side colours. Repeat
F R U R-1 U-1 F-1 as
needed:
Rotate U until at least 2 edge pieces are in their correct side position.
R U R-1 U R U2 R-1. This gives two adjacent correct edges.
R U R-1 U R U2 R-1, then U.
Hold a correctly placed corner in the
bottom-right of U (if one exists). Repeat as needed:
U R U-1 L-1 U R-1 U-1

If no corner is correct, any face will do. Run the algorithm once to get one correct, then proceed.
Hold a misoriented corner in the bottom-right of U and
repeat R-1 D-1 R D until that corner
is correct. Then rotate U to bring the next misoriented
corner to the bottom-right and repeat.
Do not rotate the whole cube.
Note: The cube will look scrambled during this step, that's normal. Once all corners are oriented, a final U rotation should complete the solve.
